Kostov Motors offers DC motors with Interpoles.  There is the potential for a DC motor to generate electrical arcs inside.  This can lead damage components over time and can generate extra heat.  Interpoles reduce the likelihood of arcing.

Some of the Kostov motors support serial and parallel connections for the field coils.  Kostov also ships dual versions of their 9" and 11" motors.
